EU funding for managing chronic diseases

SLOVENIA, September 29 - As part of the EU-funded project, the Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Public Health will develop and implement new approaches and programmes for the early detection, prevention and management of chronic diseases at the primary healthcare level. The project will focus on enhancing general, navigational, communication and digital health literacy of the adult population in Slovenia. Significant attention will be given to the inclusion of vulnerable groups, civil society, and the sustainable implementation of solutions within the healthcare system.      

The project Managing chronic diseases by enhancing health literacy is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027, priority Long-term care and health, and social inclusion and pursues the specific objective Enhancing the equal and timely access to quality, sustainable and affordable services, including services that promote the access to housing and person-centred care including healthcare; modernising social protection systems, including promoting access to social protection, with a particular focus on children and disadvantaged groups; improving accessibility including for persons with disabilities, effectiveness and resilience of healthcare systems and long-term care services.

The bulk of the funding for the project, worth €5,542,438.99, will come from the European Social Fund Plus, i.e. €3,435,604.84.
